I just can't seem to figure it out. I made these hobbits with custom body types because I don't want them to shrink or lose their hairy feet when they take a shower or whatever. They are child-sized because, well, hobbits ought to be short, and there are hacked objects to make them act old enough to, like, get a job and feed themselves. So I finally got them to show up in the sim creation menu so I could test a couple, and they are acting strange. To start with, they shower with their clothes on. This is kind of weird because I TRIED to make them custom nude skins, but those aren't showing up. What's really weird, though, is that the male hobbit has access to the regular sim child's buyable clothing, but the female hobbit doesn't. That's really annoying because I actually made her a nightdress (and copied it for a swimsuit), but I can't get that to work. I haven't made anything but the regular outfit for the male hobbit yet (in two skin tones and seven different colors, though), and I want to get the pieces I have working correctly before I spend a ton of time in other programs to make more pieces (I have this huge project in mind, haha, with enough outfits for a huge hobbit family).

I suppose my most pressing questions are how to get the nude skins to show up and why on earth the female hobbit can't see any options in the anywhere dresser so she can try on her nightgown. She can change clothes to all the different colors of her outfit, and she can put on normal child's winterwear, but that seems to be it. She also sleeps in her dress and appears to be willing to swim in it. The male can change to any color of his outfit and also put on any normal child's buyable outfit, and he changes to child defaults to sleep and swim even though he gets in the shower in his normal clothes.

What's the proper naming convention for a child category custom body type? I've tried a couple of variations and obviously haven't hit on the right one yet.

Child skins use the same naming convention as adults.
Instead of "A" for age they get a "C" and
Instead of FIT, FAT, or SKN their body type is CHD. A custom body type would be different here (for children or adults)
B123FCChd.....
B123FCB0T.....

What works for male should definitely work for female so the error is human error (which is always nice because it means it's totally fixable). To find out where it went wrong go through the files again and instead of just looking at them actually list all of the file names and internal names on a separate paper (or text file. Or better still write them out in this thread). Chances are high that while you were trying various combinations you wound up using CHD for her but actually gave him a custom body type name.

Nudes no longer work for custom body types. The tutorials you found for that were very old. One of the expansion packs changed/broke custom body types.
One work around that would work in your case is to make the feet a prop/accessory (like hats, glasses, wings, etc.) instead of putting them on the mesh proper. I'm not sure if you have to attach it to the head's mesh (while still attaching it to the foot joint) or if you need to attach it after the game starts and it just stays on even when the body changes.

I just realized that you said they act like adults but he has access to adult clothing. That might be your human error ... she's still a child. As an adult (even a child sized one) they should only have access to adult wardrobes.

I've tested them with and without the hacked objects that make them act like adults, and I got pretty much the same result either way, though at one point I managed to give her some kind of green default pajamas.... But she still couldn't see any other options. I did think I must have just named something wrong, but I tested further and found out that the child centaurs in my game have the same problem with only the females. They cannot access the buyables properly, either. I tested with a female child who didn't have a custom body type, and she was able to see my hobbit nightgown, though.

I don't actually care too much about the nude state, I guess, since none of my sims spend much time nude, but I'd prefer them to shower in their swimsuit or even regular clothes over turning into a skinny human child. rolleyes The buyables problem is more serious, though. Has anyone else seen a difference in behavior between male and female child custom body types, or is my game somehow broken? If I can't get the custom buyables I'm going to have to make them all chd bodies after all....

Edit: For the moment I have them both marked as a chd body type, and now the female can get her nightgown. They obviously turn child-shaped when showering in a normal shower, so I bought them a hacked shower that makes them shower in a swimsuit (aka a white nightgown, haha). I still wish I knew what went wrong, though. I'm more concerned with the body shape than the hairy feet, so making a prop wouldn't help. Apparently in simland fat "children" are not supposed to exist. jfade's psycho
