I started in on modifying an object (the Simlogical seasons controller) in such a way that it determined its state based on the in-game month (never mind that I found out while making it that I had an object that already did that inside a month's span that Damon made... blush I'm just making my long-haul version out of a stubborn sense of I've-never-made-an-object-and-actually-had-it-work-before-and-this-seems-easy-enough).

I'd like to test how well it works, but the game's calendar starts in June or so when the lot is opened, and I can't keep the game running long enough to get through a full test (computer instability that isn't conducive to forcing the game to run for several in-game months at full speed). I tried to make an object that sets the month to specific months directly, but I found out the hard way that apparently that's not something that can be done because those things are read-only. (On the bright side, I think my code to set it is theoretically correct. smile Even if it doesn't work.) Is there a way it can be done? (I feel like the answer is no, but I figured there's no shame in asking. With my low level of actual experience, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong. laugh )

You can't actually change the time and date stuff. Mine is based on day-of-month for configurable season lengths.

Yeah, I tried to build mine similarly but with months; it just takes forever to test without the ability to change the month directly. Guess I'll do it in chunks... hmm, or I guess I could figure out which lots are closer to season changes.

D'oh. I could definitely have done that. I'm sure lots of my lots are farther ahead than the newer ones I was testing on. jfade's psycho

You could.

What I did to help test mine was use objects to keep sims' motives up and just let the game run while I multitasked.
