Hello there !
I've been seeing all sorts of beautiful themed neighborhood screen caps from all lot of you very talented simmers and I've been contemplating trying to change the appearance of the neighborhood screen for a while now.

I finally attempted it a couple days ago trying to install viv's steampunk screen or socr's autumnal screen and it doesn't work !

It drives me crazy because it looks like it would be very easy but nothing works !!

I tried installing the "NScreen_unleashed.bmp" file in a folder called "community" in the "UIgraphics" folder. It did nothing. I also tried changing the name to "NScreen_unleashed_nonus.bmp" which didn't do much more. I also tried to do both, to no avail.

I have the expansion packs Unleashed and below (LL, HP, HD, Vac and UL)

Here are a few screen caps (in a stange order) of what I did in case somebody can spot what I'm doing wrong .

The only thing I can think about is the fact that my game has a French starting screen (though it's installed in english)

Can somebody help me please !? sad

These are the instructions I was given that worked for me:

In/Users/yourname/Desktop/blacklist.rtf your The Sims game folder (in Program Files, then Maxis on my PC) , create a new folder named "Community" in the UIGraphics folder. The full path on my PC is:
C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UIGraphics\Community

Copy the bitmap images into the "Community" folder. That's it!

I hope this helps!

What do you mean exactly. I don't quite understand what this is and what I should do with it ?

Thank you so much though. I am really desperate for this to work !

Sorry, but I'm not really sure! I found those instructions a long time ago.

I found two more and hope at least one of them will help:

Installation Instructions For New Screens
(Unleashed Neighborhood and Hot Date Downtown)

Open the UIGraphics folder

In the UIGraphics folder you have to CREATE 3 new folders

Community

Downtown

Nbhd

They have to be spelled exactly as written, caps, etc., so be careful.

Now, place all the files beginning with NScreen_ in the new "Community" folder.

Place the "CreditBtn.bmp" in the "Nbhd" folder (This is the little lighthouse that will appear on the Island at the entrance of the river)

If you also have the new Downtown screen, the "DScreen.bmp" goes in the new "Downtown" folder.

You can make a folder called Extra Screens, if you have more than one neighborhood screen, so I temporarily rename them and place in this folder so I can switch when I want a change.

Here's the second:

To begin with make sure you back up the folder with the maps in it. This way you can revert back to the originals when you want to.

Next create sub folders for whatever maps you are installing. Make sure the names look exactly like below, with the capitals in the right places. And don't forget, it is UIGraphics, not IUGraphics.

Name the maps as follows

NScreen_Unleashed >>>>and place it into the Community folder

DScreen >>>>and place it in the Downtown folder

Dscreen >>>>and place it in the Magicland folder

DScreen >>>>and place it into the Studiotown folder

VIsland >>>>and place it into the VIsland folder.
