Okay, I admit I'm frustrated so I'm not impressed at the moment. I don't like the camera - even after switching to "Sims 3" style. I'm having a hard time following Sims around and looking at things. The User Interface is NOT intuitive! They said it was the most intuitive UI so far. That's rubbish. Not only is it not intuitive, it's split up into parts so you have to chase around the screen to select options.
It seems to be set up for people using keyboards and not mice. Sorry but I like my mouse. I don't feeling like typing to play a game. That's what we did back when home computers first hit the market back in the early 80's. Not interested in doing that again.
I think I might put sims 4 away until I get my Prima Guide, read it and try again.
Here's my test sim, Liam O'Dourke, talking with Mortimer Goth.

I had a chance to play and I actually really like it.

I don't know what I did for the camera, but it works well enough now. And the UI isn't bad. I like the new bar at the bottom which seem less cluttered than having tab after tab... after tab. I'm not sure I like that the modives are hard to see.

The new pie menu is alright. It took some getting used to but it's not the worst. I'm actually enjoying this more than sims 3.

Still not loving it but it's okay. I'm sure it will be better once there are a few more EPs.

Here's a funny - the Sims play Sims 1 on the computer!

After a few times playing and reading the Prima Guide - I've decided to put Sims 4 away for a while. It just doesn't excite me. There is little to do yet, designs are limited and the "emotions" which spme players are finding so intriguing, interferes with my style of game play.
I'm not passing judgement until there are at least two more EPs but at this point - this is not for me.

You know I have not wanted to pick up sims 1 or 2 since I started playing 4.

Now, part of that may be the novelty still, but I am enjoying it a lot. I don't think long-term it will replace sims 1 but in the short term I'm not running screaming back to my other sims games.

I think the length of loading screens depends on a lot of things, like your computer specs, the number of EPs - and lets not forget the number of patches that add content and coding - as well as your custom content, etc.

So even if the times are bearable now, it could get worse in the future. Or better, if you get a better computer.
The Sims 1 loading screens used to take a few minutes for me, but last time I played they flashed by so fast that I hardly saw them...

I think going from 1 and 2 to 4 might be easier because you're used to loading screens. In Sims 3 it takes 10 to 20 minutes for my game to load, but I have no loading screens and it feels like a step backwards. I also like the look of Sims 4 compared to Sims 2, but I prefer the look of the objects and the environment in Sims 3 to Sims 4. To me it is all a bit too 'saturated'. (But then, my favourite Sims 3 worlds are Midnight Hollow and the cc world of Grey Meadows...)

Sims 3 has no loading screens but the loading is hardly seamless. The game stutters, stalls and doesn't draw objects quickly, so I had to spend LONGER waiting for it to load things on-the-fly. mad

I envy the people I see over on Tumblr who play Sims with all the graphics super high and everything looks sharp. *cue my Sims walking in with hair that normally wouldn't look so... flat that is a blurry mop on their head with blurry clothes and blurry worlds laugh *

I'd go for 4 but I wouldn't go for 4... jfade's psycho
