Hello, CTO friends. We have a major problem this morning. Our webhost has shut us down because of what they are calling "vulnerable scripts". They believe we have been hacked. The options they are giving me are to try to repair it myself, or pay them $200 to fix it for us. We don't have $200 to spare, so I'm going to have to try to fix it myself.

To complicate things further, my home Internet has been out for 2 days, so I'm trying to work on this using a 4G-LTE connection on my little tablet. And I'm at work right now.

So I'm very sorry, but I don't know when we will be back online. I get off work at noon (about 2 hours from now) and will have the rest of the day to work on this.

Please try to let your CTO friends know about this who are not on Facebook. Perhaps someone could post at Simblesse Oblige? Thanks to all of you for your patience, and I'll do my best to fix this problem without losing any of our data.

If you need to contact me in a hurry, send me a message on Facebook messenger using my Joan Jmrcrp account. I get both of those on my tablet and phone. Since the site is down, our email doesn't work either, so my webmaster@ctosims.com account is also down. So is Michael's CTO email account.

Thanks for posting this, puzzlebook!
I don't have a Facebook account, but I got an email about it from Fashionboots. In turn, I was able to pass the information on to Ripmagnum and moyra21.
I guess we are the E-Version of the Pony Express, eh? laugh
I do hope Joan will be able to resolve the problems - what a nightmare!
Does anyone here have a non-CTO/non-Facebook email address for Joan? If so, could you message me with it? I want to offer her some $$$ to help with the repair bill if she can't fix the problem herself.

Update - found and deleted 5 malicious files from our site. Taken care of most of the other things the webhost told me to do. Just waiting for the virus scan on my computer to finish. It's up to 65% now, so just a few more hours and we should be back online.

Would a CTO member please let the webmaster know that the site is unreachable right now because of a browser hijack agent? I don't have facebook access, but i did send an email to the webmaster account listed above.

CTO is aware of it. I clicked on my bookmark and this message came up:

"CTO Sims is offline for a little while due to some problems we are working on solving. Check the CTO Sims page on Facebook or Simblesse Obligue for updates. Thanks for your patience!"

I was online earlier this morning when problems began to manifest. My Norton Security app blocked two redirect attempts by "contact-computer-support <dot> com," and one redirect attempt by "be-cautious-on-the-internet <dot> com."

Other members reported similar attempts...

Karen....I'm starting to feel the same way too!!
At any rate - like Kaserine, I do not have a Facebook account.
If anyone is reading these posts, and does have an FB account, can they please keep us posted on what announcements are being made there?

CTO is welcome to use Simblesse Oblige while sorting out tech problems. We wouldn't be providing much of a service to our joint community if we didn't help.
