SPRING TEXTURE CHALLENGE
It's springtime in the Northern Hemisphere - and soon the weather will be warming up and gardens will be budding.
We thought Simblesse oblige members would like a texture challenge. If you're feeling flat, rejuvenate yourself with a quick wall, a skin, recovering a chair - anything that takes your fancy!
Often it's good just to do something for fun that is completely different to what you've been struggling with for a while as a boost to your creativity. We make sims objects and skins for fun after all!
To inspire you, we have chosen a texture at Fat Strawberry. This is a free textures site owned by Kate of Parsimonious. The link will take you to a texture called "Happiness". It is a fun cheerful texture of flowers and little strawberries.
Members who have never made anything might like to try a wall. heck I have never made a wall, so that's what I'm going to do! Don't forget to experiment with resizing the texture, or try picking up a part of the texture like the strawberry only, or the flower.
If you'd like to try making some wall paper, look in the Clutter thread section for some wall mouldings so you can have details like chair railings or base boards. http://simblesseoblige.com/viewtopic.php?t=1481
How to make walls and floors is given here:
http://simblesseoblige.com/viewtopic.php?t=95
If you have any questions about skinning or object making please ask in the skinning and object making/recolouring sections. We will be only too happy to help you.
Please post a picture of what you have made in this thread. No criticism will be given, only appreciation at what you have made!!
Here is the Fat Strawberry texture link:

The thumbnail below is to help you identify it. Do not save this thumbnail to use for the challenge, download it from the Fat Strawberry site for the best quality image.
There is no time limit on this - have fun!! _________________ "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride." Dreams, however, are a different matter - you should have a whole stable full of those.

mtaman!! I love that sofa! The pillows are awesome! Will you have it available for download soon?
Gee, I haven't done a challenge here since the spooky bookcase.
This is such a pretty texture! Definitely "spring-y" This garden sofa is probably the beginning of a set, so I won't zip it up yet. This is just a little sneaky-peek.
I didn't smooth out the base texture of the cushion, because I wanted it to have that outdoor look, and I think the darker areas achieve that. So, that's why the Happiness texture looks a little different than the original. Hope that's ok!
So, here it is! More to come! |

Ooh, I love both of your "sofas".
The texture spoke to me as a spring dress. Here's my entry.

Ludic, I like the princess neckline of the dress, the way the shoes mimic the back, and those big buttons add a touch of fun.
Not that I know anything about fashion. |

Well, I took a look at this, and looked at the texture and thought, "No way can I make that work and still keep in the general theme of the stuff on my website." Then I thought, wait a sec, Vana is the Vala connected with flowers and spring and all that, so I might be able to come up with something for her. I tried. And tried. And tried. It just looked too modern no matter what I did, especially using the meshes I already had. Then I decided to make a new one, shrink the pattern even more than I already had, and... here is the result, Vana in her spring dress. It'll probably show up with the next update on my site, which will likely be around the beginning of April.

wow! I'm so impressed with what everyone has done so far!
MJ, that dress is beautiful - the sash and border trim are stunning. And the mesh is lovely.
Ludic, your dress is so cute! I like that neckline and the backstrap - that is a really cute detail.
Mtaman & Mamasoul, the sofas are gorgeous and both look completely different despite using the same texture.
well done everyone! _________________ "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride." Dreams, however, are a different matter - you should have a whole stable full of those.
