Found this old thread and ran with it LOL
I got simpose and am finally straightening out
my bizarre heads and skins. I also like to make
modify my skins, for my use only, of course, and this helps me
to see what I've got before I go into the game, but I'm wondering
if it's possible to put the new skins in my game from simpose?
I can't find an answer in the instructions. I read above that you
can move skins with SimShow but is that program still available?

Thanks for any help :)

You have to move (and, if necessary rename) skins manually from SimPose when you want to move them into the game.

SimShow (sorry, I haven't time right now to find a source) is a Maxis product, and had the built in capacity to rename a bmp to match the mesh you were using it with.

If you are renaming a bmp to use with a mesh you already have in your game, it's usually just a matter of changing the mesh identifier (xxx in bxxxfafit, for example) to match the mesh.

If you're actually making your own bmp's you'll probably want to work in 24 bit colour. That will show up without problem in SimPose, but you'll have to reduce it to 8 bit colour depth (256 colours) before you put it into the game, or it won't show.

There's a whole sub-forum here devoted to skinning, so ask as many questions as you like there. I'm leaving on a trip, so won't be posting much for a while.

Enjoy skinning! I love to see new skinners. smile

This might be exactly what I have been looking for. I should have poked around some more before posting my quest in sim sleuths.
