have you checked your mouse settings in your control panel? I often find it's the small stuff that causes me trouble, for some reason. Maybe that's the case here.

Check to make sure you don't have cursor trails enabled and see if that helps. I've circled where it is on my computer, it might not be quite the same on yours.

Okay you have XP probably. I don't have the same exact things but I did some acceleration uncheck that box.

My settings on my display are higher than they used to be.

1280 x 1024 True Color 32 Bit

Not sure if I should move my settings down to the game size. I think if I remember, that was maybe the settings I had before? I can't remember huh

I still have them even after the small changes in the mouse setttings

I have Windows2000Pro NTF something kind of file system whistle

Hmm.. I've shut the game off. I will go set my display down to that setting for the game, then start it up. See if that makes a difference whistle

floorlaugh Wow when you reset those display sizes

sad No changes, the trails are very strange to watch, as they 'trail'

rolleyes Can't be too mad, it's just a game

whistle Good things happen all of a sudden

wink He asked her and she said yes

smile I am installed to Vacation already

One thing I wonder I never watched long enough. If the person had updated their drivers enough, would they just have to reinstall and see if that fixed it? I just don't recall reading that. If so, I am thinking I should stop wink

You need to upgrade DirectX. That's what I had to do.

rolleyes I updated the DirectX

Went to Microsoft to see about an update, they give me errors dry

My giant updated my mouse from a Compaq to a Dell.

I also upped my speed from none to medium.

What I have is shorter trails. Now I have a mouse that is recognized by Microsoft, so I might try to update the driver that way. smile

All so worth the time and effort for certain yes

What you need is Directx 8 or higher. Now, Microsoft will want you to upgrade to 9.x (or perhaps 10 is out?) Well you have 7.x or older so it won't work. You need to try and do a bran new install of it. NOT upgrade. I didn't think avout that when I said it, when I went from 7.x to 8.x for TS1, It worked fine, when I went from 8.x to 9.x for TS2 (The dark side) it worked fine, 7.x to 10.x will not work so well. If you can't do a barand new install then, uh...
Well anyway...

laugh No, I have ancient Windows98 As to graphics, it would be a good idea to go down to 16 bit acceleration. As for DirectX, don't worry about it, once you install the other expacks, it will install DirectX 8 automatically, or it should. it does when I install anything higher than Vacation, if I remember right.

yeah. it might also help to put your game in a window. your sims readme will have instructions on how to do that, as well as other graphics and sound issues. Also, if you have AGP, you can set the card for lower memory, not that I'd do that myself.

Oh! it might help to make the game emulate Win9x

If I can find any more suggestions, I'll let you know.

Mousetails in the border there will always happen I think, becuase the game never refreshes there. Running it in a window will help, just use
-w
Just like you'd add -debug_lots or whatever.
