I have been asked to enter this list

Highlight and copy it to your hard drive

Now print that out and cut it to the size of a small piece of paper

Okay tape that little square to your monitor or somewhere handy

Each time you want to put a home somewhere else

Just look at your list and see where else this home will look 'good'

Now I don't care whatsoever, but many do

Here is the list of homes and where they can sit and be exactly fine in the neighborhood view. Something many love to sit and gaze at

Lot 1 - 5, 53, 57
Lot 2 - 7, 50, 54, 55, 56, 63, 66
Lot 3 - 4, 8, 10, 59, 68, 69
Lot 4 - 3, 8, 10, 59, 68, 69
Lot 5 - 1, 53, 57
Lot 6 - 9, 52, 62, 64, 65, 67, 76
Lot 7 - 2, 50, 54, 55, 56, 63, 66
Lot 8 - 3, 4, 10, 59, 68, 69
Lot 9 - 6, 52, 62, 64, 65, 67, 76
Lot 10 - 3, 4, 8, 59, 68, 69

Just copy your house file. Drop it in a folder you named Saved Homes
That keeps a copy of the original home and lot number
Look at that list and figure out where you are putting this home
Rename it and there you go. A home that will look great when you glance at your whole town. wink:

Patty, I noticed that lot 65 is not in the list. Is that because it will not change with any other lots?

Let me jump back in here. The lot 65 is not Residential, so I did not enter it. The rest of these are all for homes.

Now business, that's so few you could just open the game, go look, then make a choice, make the change, then go back and it is done. Yes of course with your game open.

Must say this too. If you do this the easy way, with the game running. You have the chance to see your houses, where they are. Same with the Lot Manager. In fact you can open the Lot Manager while the game is running, and copy a home to another town. But with the game running, you can make changes immediately for the town you are in, including copy and rename a house file. So this is how to do that:

Open your game and see the town view.
Figure out with your list, where you want a home to be.
I do this. T=2 H=8 RH=69
This translates to Town 2, House 8, Rename House 69
Next thing I do in the game is move to Downtown.
You can move anywhere, just move
Now minimize

Go to your game folder C\ProgramFiles\Maxis\TheSims
Open the game folder
Look for your UserData (town)
Open that folder and see the Houses folder
Open that and see all the structures in that town listed

You want to copy House 8 and make it also House 69
No problem
First go to top of page and pull down file, select new
Make a new folder; right click that folder and rename it Saved Homes

Now go to House 8 and right click and copy that house file and drop that copy in the new folder you made (just touch the folder and paste)
Now paste a copy also in the houses list.

That will be copy2ofHouse08

Right click your House 69 and Cut it out, Paste in the Saved Homes
Now there is no House69 in the town, it's corrupt.

You fix that by right clicking your copy of 8 and renaming it House69

Close the Houses folder, close the UserData folder, Shut the game folder

Go back to your game, you are downtown or somewhere
Go back to your town view
In that new view is a House 8 and a House 69 that are exactly the same
You can go paint and change the 69 or 8 so they don't look exactly alike if you choose. One way to make new homes with the structure of ready made home.

Now the moving to Downtown or somewhere is important. If you do not have any EP's, don't worry. What you do is this.

Same procedure of copy and paste of the house file.
The difference is when you return to your town view, you will not see the new changes.

All you need to do is go to the Newbies or someone in the town. Just go see them, save and walk back out. Now that you have 'moved' or 'shifted' the game by doing this, you have done the same thing we do when we move our game to Downtown or somwhere.

This is long I know, but it is the basic way to rename any house file and make it a 'new home' somewhere else.
A few of us have taken homes to non home areas. Hedda at SomeSimThings has a portal repair kit for that problem of portal issues. http://www.somesimthings.com/Obj/02Obj.htm Thank you dear Hedda

Some of us have taken a non home and brought it to the home lot. A magic or vacation or downtown or community or even studio town can become a home lot. Some of the objects won't show, but again, the portals from Hedda make this repair job done.

Whew! Tired of reading yet?

Patty, lot 65 is a residential lot.

When you click on it, the little box that comes up says to pick or create a family to move in.

It also has the residential mailbox, trashcan and newspaper on the lot when you do get there.

When I get time, I will try exchanging houses to see which ones work with lot 65 to add to the list.

Aha! Lot 65 is one of the Unleashed lots, which means it can be community or residential, depending on which the player decided on. That could be the confusion - it's just zoned differently on the two games.

Okay, that explains my "confusilation."

Not being an adventurous player like you guys, I have never changed the lots.

I have enough troubles managing families with only 2 sims! :???:

floorlaugh I lost my mind so that's what happens when you chat too long :grin

I have to go make a new town and then go and sit through the horrible long menus to load the areas

And then you have to load Vacation and Downtown next.

I swear I didn't count it as it is that Vegetable Mart I never take my family to :P

Off to load my sweet monster game and go wait upon the loading of all the parts of the game that make is more fun smile:

Oh Patty, I should have loaded the game last night instead of doing real life stuff.

I didn't realize the long process you would have to endure through.

Your patience will be repaid greatly.

Thanks very much.

A collection of completely bare and flattened lots are available for every lot on the game, for building purposes - http://simblesseoblige.com/viewtopic.php?t=311
