Earlier this year there was discussion about making a grindstone to make flour to use in the MM Oven. The original thread is here: http://www.simblesseoblige.com/viewtopic.php?t=3840&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Well Eisabaer has made this wonderful grindstone mill and with thanks to Raeven's base, I've made a wheat crop to go with the mill. Now farming simmies can grow wheat, either sell the wheat or harvest it and then grind the wheat in the mill. After the wheat is ground into flour sims can either sell the flour or use it in the MM oven.

You can also buy the wheat straight from the store - from MM vine sprig display stands. This is why there's some prop files in the zip (Mac user friendly) - put the prop files in the Skins folder, everything else in the Downloads or UserObjects folder.

Sims with higher outdoor interest will make more money selling the wheat and sims with higher cooking points make more money selling the flour. Using the grindstone will raise cooking points.

Big thank you to Eisbaer and making this grindstone and Raeven for making the crop base possible.

Note: It's recommended to lower the buy price of the wheat crop in a 3rd party program, as the re-sow price will automatically be half the buy price. Currently it's 50/25 which is a bit expensive.

(Related deco wheat and stubble floor tiles can be found at Bag of Tricks along with a wheat gleaning patch - pickable wheat based on the ATS chestnut tree).

Actually I just noticed what could be a glitch in this object but I need Raeven to read this and explain what's happening.

The original base cost $5 to buy and resowing after harvesting cost $2. I changed the buying price to $50 and now I just noticed that the resowing price jumped up to $25. Are the 2 linked somehow, so that the resowing price is always half of whatever the buy price is?

Aye, indeed! The crops started life as a flower bed and that's how they work.

Eisbaer, Ruth you guys did a phenomenal job. It's .. they ... are just beautiful.

Thanks Raeven, I love Eisbaer's mill - the stone texture is just gorgeous!
Now, thanks for the explaination about the prices. What do you guys think? Is resowing for $25 too much? I think it is, so I'll change it back otherwise it will eat into any profit made by selling the wheat.

Edit: well this is strange, I'm having Vista/Tmog problems and can't change the price. I"ll post the issue elsewhere. In the meantime players should change the price in a 3rd party program like Tmog/IffSnooper, SimCat or SE Object Manager. eg, change the buy price to $10 and that will make the re-sowing price $5. Or make the buy price $5 and that will make the re-sowing price $2.

This is just the neatest thing--I can't wait to use it!

I don't think the $25 is too bad, really; farming (on a small scale, at least) in RL isn't incredibly profitable...

Thank you guys for making this--I love anything that allows the sims to be self-sufficient. notworthy notworthy thumbsup thumbsup
