This is our wedding photo; it's about a year and a season old, so I should still look something like that. wink

I'll have to dig out a better picture of Su at some point.

How nice to see both of you! Looking so nuptial, too.

A lot of pictures of the old timers here are in this thread, if you're interested.

Lovely bridal couple! The groom in white is a great idea and that wedding dress is lovely with the lace over the arms. I'm sure you both have wonderful memories of that day.

Most of the memories involve the minister (my father) messing up the vows, the bride putting the ring on the wrong hand, the best man arriving in town two hours before show time, the groom embarrassing his wife at the reception, and that sort of thing.

In other words, we enjoyed it immensely. laugh

Those things are what gives weddings such great character and even greater joy when remembering!

laugh We were getting married in Hawaii..

Well his buddy was still at work, as my new to be hubby was not.. So we stood in front of the courthouse, looking across the street at a cemetary and tall clock that chimed every half hour.. rolleyes

Our witness's were late in coming as my husband and his buddy were supposed to be at Ford Island at the time.. But we got married and we did not end up in the cemetary whistle

Good memories of all kinds are worth the time.. I know when Kate and Jason got married, the Reverand was using his niece's ceremony.. Soooo when it got to the Will you Take Susan for your bride??

My new son in law said very LOUD I WILL TAKE KATE to be my bride.. floorlaugh

Memories are the gift of Life

Amen.

My favorite moment perhaps came from dad. He slipped up while reading the ceremony and gave us all the wonderful injunction that "Man was not made to be a woman."

Thank you, dad. I never knew. laugh

Another memorable moment came when my wife put my ring on the wrong hand.

And then, there was the most unkindest cut of all. Those of you who are married men know how it works when that back door opens: random parts of your body cease working the way they should - especially the knees. I was standing there, watching her come up, keeping myself balanced, but just barely. My best man told me later, "I thought you were going to either cry or collapse; either way I was just going to step forward and put my arm around your shoulders." But he didn't need to. I was balanced. I was fine.

And then Su gets up to the front of the church and sticks her tongue out at me!

So you see, dad's misspeaking saved me. I was finally able to laugh, and the congregation finally stopped wondering, "Why is the groom shaking randomly?"
