Someone has finally made a victorian steampunk object, HUZZAH. I could frickin' kiss them.
Should it be listed under Sci-Fi?
Victorian? (and other types into their appropriate them?)

IN the meantime anyone interested can pop over to TSR and snag the steampunk computer

Wikipedia has the answers! laugh

Personally, I think it counts as its own theme.

Certainly it should be its own theme. It's not futuristic. and it's not properly "Victorian".

If only Ada Augusta Byron King, Countess of Lovelace , had been healthier and lived long enough for technology to be able to catch up with her mind.

An invalid for much of her life, she never the less produced three children, and invented computer programming before she died at age 37.

She's one of my heroes, like Hedy Lamarr, another woman whose brain was way ahead of the technology. Without Hedy Lamarr, we might not have cell phones. Or wifi. Lamarr lived long enough for the technology to begin to develop, but she never made a cent from the seminal work behind so much of modern communications technology

As this computer's the only object I know of that really falls into the Steampunk category I figured it's own thread wouldn't work out that well.

Heh, I wish. But no .... I actively requested Steampunk themed items for years using every possible way to describe it. I even suggested Frankenstein's lab ... a bit grim a bit dusty but HEY it's heading in the right direction, certainly. No joy. I'd pretty much given up and decided I'd need to make my own. My attempts were dreadful, though. One of the main reasons I started fiddling wiht the 3D program was in the hopes of being able to do a better job of it, in fact. jfade's psycho laugh

YAY.... love steampunk. That puter at TSR is SO good! Been looking lately at Sims 2 steampunk stuff and found a heap. But no Sims 1 no at all.

For me, it fits with clothing from the Victorian\Edwardian period, right up to (and possibly at the same time) with the sort of clothes from the between-the-wars period Britain (1930s I suppose).

If anyone feels like making one, I always wanted a computer with a wooden exterior, you know instead of the beige plastic. Oh, and with a crank handle to start it up... and maybe a rat in a treadmill to power it laugh

I love Verne and Wells.
Frankenstein's lab would be pretty cool, too, but actually I prefer the less 'grimy, gloomy' stuff.

That computer is great! I'd love to see more items in this category - but then, I'm a great fan of gears, cogs, wheels and axles... :) :)
