This is a really basic tutorial to PSP layers, which is at least easier to understand than the official PSP manual

Here are a couple of really basic ones for Layers in Gimp

Thank you for that link! I have often been frustrated with the PSP official How-tos.

The instructions for PSP8, at least, are dreadful. There is one paragraph about the difference between a layer background and a background layer that is incredibly difficult to understand unless you know what they're writing about. I used to read it aloud to my husband, until I was laughing so hard I couldn't go on.

Now, whenever somebody asks for an explanation of something that is almost impossible to explain, we say, "Let me tell you about the difference between a layer background and a background layer.........."
