Until a few years ago, it didn't occur to me that downloading objects without saving a pic of what the set or item looked like was pretty stupid. And even with some sets I've collected after I started saving pix, the pic was so small that it was hard to make out individual items.

So loading custom content into my new theme set up was so slow and such a pain that I just stopped doing it. Then I happened to see this post from Siyankan

Download installation tip:

Let's say you've just downloaded a .zip full of counters from some site. The creator put 6 counters in the .zip, but you only like one and you've got a download limit to think about. He has also, unhelpfully, named them all "Counter." How do you find the one you want?

You could do it by trial and error, but here's an easier way if you have IFFPencil:

Open the .iff file, then open the DGRP resource. This will show you what the object looks like, and it's faster than using TMog or SimCat. You don't even have to unzip the files to check it. (If there are more DGRPs than one, it's probably a multi-tile object. Pick one. It'll only show you part of the object, but it should be enough to tell.)

in this thread, which is full of stuff a lot of us didn't know: http://www.simblesseoblige.com/viewtopic.php?t=5846

Now I can see easily whether an item is suitable for medieval or regency or futuristic or Harry Potterish. jump
